AT&T Breach Advisory
On July 12, 2024, AT&T disclosed a breach impacting nearly all its wireless customers. We want to ensure you are aware of the potential risks and know how to protect yourself.
Protect Yourself from Social Engineering Attacks
Be Wary of Unsolicited Contacts: If you receive an unsolicited call, text, or email from someone claiming to be from AT&T or any other service provider, do not provide any personal information. Instead, contact AT&T directly using verified contact information from their official website.
Verify Caller Identities: Given that attackers might use the leaked phone numbers to pose as trusted contacts, always verify the identity of the caller. Hang up and call back using a known and trusted number.
Avoid Clicking on Links or Downloading Attachments: Do not click on links or download attachments from unknown or suspicious messages. These could be phishing attempts designed to steal further information or install malware on your device.
Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Enable MFA on all accounts that offer it. This adds an additional layer of security, making it harder for attackers to gain access even if they have your password.
Report Suspicious Activity: If you encounter any suspicious activity or believe you have been targeted by a social engineering attack, report it to your IT department or security team immediately. This helps in taking swift action to mitigate any potential damage.
We urge you to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to protect your personal information. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Stay safe and secure,
